Afroscaff is proudly South African, always striving for quality, service, affordability and ethics. Although established in 2015 to meet a national demand for access scaffold, erecting and site management. Afroscaff provides top quality scaffold application erected by experience and certified teams, focussing on safety and availability in construction projects.
We employ up to 120 workers all who come from previously disadvantaged backgrounds. The 120 workers are paid according to the hours that they’ve worked depending on the contract that we may have, usually we work 6 months on a project.
Challenges Being Faced During COVID-19
Out of all the projects that we were supposed to start working on from end of February as one of the ships and a submarine we were meant to do erect scaffolding on have had to be put on hold due to the Covid 19 and lockdown on sea operations. We build scaffolding on the 2 ships that are due for maintenance and repairs. Our workforce of 120 men have not worked since the outbreak of the corona virus and all of the work that allows us to maintain our office and how we source out future projects has been impacted.
What Will The Donations Be Used For?
We would like to pay a certain portion of the money towards the April-June rent of our office then rest of the money can pay for overheads such as stationery, telephone bill and possibly a certain food stipend to our workers who have not received a salary since Covid19 affected our operations, all those who work for us do not qualify for an formal grant offered by government so it is up to us a company to source out funds to alleviate some of the difficulties they may be facing since they do not receive any income during this time.
How does our work impact the community/give-back?
Job creation as we have 80-120 workers from the various townships of Cape Town.
Our company has managed to employ a large number of workers who are at least able to have employment for 10 months in 2019, and also taking our company to a zero income to having invoiced at least R4.7M in 12 months.
